Default Programatically change the Brightness of the iPhone

Hi,

I have searched and searched for how to programatically change the brightness on the iPhone. Does anyone know how to do this? What framework would I use? Is something like this allowed?

I would guess it's allow since there are a number of flash light apps out there.

thanks,

This is not allowed under the official SDK via distrobution on the App Store from what I understand, but can be done on jailbroken devices.
